I’m finding the screen on. It can be annoying with a black (or very dark) background. But a lot less distracting than I first thought that it would be.

Some minor issues with the trackpad. Sometimes it thinks I have done a ‘pinch’ and resizes the text on the webpage, when really, I haven’t. But there is a patch for the trackpad that I shall download when I am on my home network again.

The keyboard is VERY nice. Much nicer than the external keyboard on my iMac. Maybe they can make the feel of the keys on that like the ones on the Macbook Pro. They have very nice tactile feedback. Not as great as the old keyboards, but better than the old macbook Pro.

Glossy screen is growing on me… slowly. The display is VERY vivid. That I do like.

So the glass trackpad didn’t turn out to be quite what the rumour mongers were predicting, and the new design is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, but I still think the glass track pad with integrated screen will appear one day. I agree with Jeremy that the black keys don’t do it any favours but the one design aspect that disappointed me was the feel of the white illuminated Apple on the outer case. it no longer feels silky-smooth to the touch, it feels as if its made from cheap ‘sticky” plastic.

My 12″ powerbook is long in the tooth now and I’m up for replacing it. I’m not 100% keen on the look of the new MBPs, the black keys and screen surround, the glossy screen all leave me cold. I’d like to play with one though to get a better idea, then will probably get one when it has it’s next rev.

In the meantime I’m waiting for Macworld to see what they announce.

I played with one at the Apple Store. I kind of like the trackpad. It does not feel like glass.

Thought I admit… I like the idea of a 2nd screen as trackpad. There are all kinds of options there.

And my new one should arrive Tuesday (damn TNT). Hopefully the reflective screen will not annoy me too much.

I just looked at the new Macook. I think its super. I hope to get one come January 2009. I just got a new 24″ iMac and it is also superfast

A good job 4Front is not the Apple designer. They’d never put the speakers like that, it looks far to cluttered.

I like the idea of the new trackpad though

you’ve got a good point about battery life, it would have to have a “disabled” mode for off-mains use i suppose. The glass would be as good (bad) as an iPhone, so first thing i’d do is buy a screen protector. Anyway all of this is conjecture and maybe just the stuff of dreams!

Reminds me of the Nintendo DS. They wouldn’t get sued for that, would they? How long would the battery life go? How durable/scratch proof is the glass? How bright should the trackpad be, how would they avoid accidental input?

All these and many more are sure to be concerns of Apple…
